New Mandates

PROOF OF VACCINATION

On August 23rd, plans for a "vaccine passport" were revealed. Individuals will be required to present proof of vaccination in order to access certain events, services, and businesses as of Monday, September 13th. Excalibur management are still determining how best to comply with this new order--expect additional updates in the coming days and weeks as we approach the start of our 2021/22 season. More details can be found on the official government website.

Given the mid-September start date, this order does NOT impact what remains of our summer session, which ends following classes on Tuesday, August 31st.

MANDATORY MASKING

On August 24th, the PHO reinstated masking requirements for indoor public spaces. This order goes into effect on Wednesday, August 25th. Additional information can be found on the government website.

Starting on August 25th, as dictated by the order, a mask will be required when entering the studio. Please note the following guidelines:

  • Regardless of vaccination status, individuals 12 years and older MUST wear a mask in all common areas such as lobbies, hallways, change rooms, the office and Dance Shoppe. Children 11 years and under are not required to mask but doing so is encouraged.
  • Vaccinated individuals 12 years and older are NOT required to wear a mask in the classroom during periods of physical activity, though masking is still strongly recommended.
  • Unvaccinated individuals 12 years and older must wear a mask at all times. This is intended to protect both the individual and those around them.

Additional exemptions apply as per the government website. The following individuals are not required to wear a mask, regardless of age and vaccination status:

  • People with health conditions or with physical, cognitive or mental impairments who cannot wear one.
  • People who cannot remove a mask on their own.
  • People who need to remove their masks to communicate due to another person's hearing impairment.

Studio staff and management will do everything necessary to comply with these new provincial health orders. Considering the unexpected mandates, it no longer appears that Step 4 of the BC Restart Plan will be introduced on September 7th. With regard to proof of vaccination requirements, details are still being revealed, and we are not yet certain how this will impact our upcoming season. As mentioned, all families enrolled in September classes will be updated as soon as we have more information to share.

As always, thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.
