2021/22 BALLET

A highly disciplined stage art based on centuries-old tradition of movement. Ballet develops a sense rhythm and appreciation of music. It helps to coordinate mind and body, improve poor posture and poise and promote self confidence. The basis for all forms of dance, this class will focus on technique training and barre work. The structured discipline of Ballet will help improve all aspects of a dancer's craft.

[COVID-19] Creating a safe environment for students and staff is our top priority. As we enter into the final stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, provincial guidelines are changing for the better. Provided the situation continues to improve, the studio's current health and safety protocols will likely be adjusted prior to the start of our 2021/22 season. Though we cannot predict exactly how things will change in the weeks and months to come, expect to be notified when our own COVID protocols are updated.

Our fall semester begins the week of Tuesday, September 7th, 2021.

RECREATIONAL:These are non-competitive, recreational classes available to all students of the appropriate age. View our Student Placement Guidelines for additional information. Open classes are intended to accommodate a wide range of skill levels--from beginner to advanced.

There is no costume fees associated with the Progressing Ballet Tech class as it will NOT participate in recital performances (unless otherwise discussed).

PROGRESSING BALLET TECHNIQUE (PBT)--Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) focuses on the training of muscle memory using an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program. The use of an exercise ball allows students to gain a greater sense of posture and weight-placement while feeling each correct muscle group working throughout each exercise. The program helps with injury prevention and rehabilitation and enhances the ability of athletes to perform at their best. Using ballet-technique specific exercises, PBT focuses on core strength, weight-placement and alignment of the body.

TROUPE (Audition Required)

TROUPE: Dancers receive intensive training geared toward a competition environment. Classes and competitions require substantial dedication, commitment, and financial investment. Admission by audition ONLY. Contact office staff for admission details.

(Numbers)

When multiple classes share the same name, each class is assigned a number (in brackets). For instance, Junior Ballet (1) and Junior Ballet (2). These numbers exist only to differentiate the classes on the schedule and have no impact on student placement.

2021/22 Season

The 1st semester of our season begins on September 7th, 2021 and ends on December 18th, 2021. The 2nd semester begins on January 4th, 2022 and ends on June 18th, 2022. Unless otherwise noted, classes will continue for the entire season provided minimum enrollment is maintained.

Due to the ever-changing and unpredictable nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, should the studio be mandated to close by the provincial government, billing will be suspended and future fees shall be adjusted to compensate for any missed lessons.

Commitment

Though our 2021/22 season runs from September 2021 to June 2022, registration does NOT commit you to the entire 10 month period. Tuition is paid on a monthly basis. Students are free to add classes, transfer to a new class, and/or withdraw from class at any time. Important: Enrollment and billing will continue through to the end of the season unless office staff are otherwise notified.

Initial Fees & Monthly Tuition

Initial fees will be posted at the time of registration. Subsequent tuition fees are due on the 1st of each month. Initial fees include the first month's tuition (prorated if joining mid-month), a $40 registration fee per family, and costumes fees as detailed below. Listed fees DO NOT include GST, taxes are additional. Families will be discounted for multiple students/classes.

Tuition is calculated based on class length and day of the week. For example: Monday classes offer fewer lessons due to stat holiday and long weekend closures, resulting in a lower tuition fee. 45 minute classes will likewise feature a lower fee compared to 60 minute classes.

Fixed Payment Plan

Tuition fees are calculated as part of a "fixed" payment plan (also known as an equal payment plan). Fees are calculated by determining the total cost of the season, minus all studio closures, divided equally across the 10 month period between September 2021 and June 2022. The registrant pays the same fee each month regardless of how many classes are attended. Note that all scheduled closures are subtracted prior to the calculation of fees, thus reducing the average monthly tuition.

Costume Fee

Costume fees are paid at the time of registration, $45 + GST per class/per student. For each recital performance (two per season), students shall receive one costume per class as provided by Excalibur's in-house seamstresses. This is a RENTAL fee ($22.50 per recital), all costumes provided by Excalibur are to be returned following the performance for which they are intended. These fees offset associated costs and labour; including materials, construction, fittings, alterations, repairs, and cleaning, as well as the organization and distribution of costumes to the student base.
